alright, you wanna know something that realy irks me? this whole idea of postmodernism...and that kids today honestly think that it's okay to think whatever you want! I had a talk with one of the kids in my youth group about homosexual relationship. She said straight out that she supported them, that there was nothing wrong with that lifestyle! "I'm not like that, but I don't think it's wrong!" I seriously had to restrain myself from going over to her house and shaking...literally shaking some sense into her! I mean...seriously...
We ended up getting into a pretty good discussion about what the Bible says about such relationships. And she says to me "I don't care what the Bible says. I can still be a Christian and think it's not wrong!" Do they really not see the paradox in their thinking?? Do they not understand that when they say one thing...and then a couple days later say the complete opposite...it's confusing!
I don't think teenagers today take time to evaluate what they believe and THEN take time to balance that against what the Bible has to say. I even had one kid in my group tell me he thought people were born gay....or that growing up with gay parents will make him gay. I can see MAYBE where growing up with gay parents may make one a more susceptible to such behavior... But, I think the thing that scares me the most about this next generation.... Christians aren't using the Bible as a foundation for what they believe. They're using culture, what the world says is right and wrong. To them...it seems the Bible is old religion...not applicable to what's going on in the world today. How can I possibly get it across to these kids that there is black and white...right and wrong. That's it's clear in the Bible how we, as Christians, should live life. And I'm not saying discriminate against those that live such lifestyles...be friends with them...love them...just don't support the lifestyle. Don't get me wrong, here. I'm not a "Bible thumper" by any means. I honestly can't STAND people that go around shoving their faith and religion down the other person's throat. And I don't make it a habit of going around telling people they're going to Hell...because well...who am I to judge where someone will spend eternity? Christ is the final judge on all things. I can however build a relationship (a healthy relationship) in order to gain trust and grounds in order to share my beliefs in the hopes of showing people the light that is Jesus Christ. I mean, there are good ways and bad ways of sharing one's faith...the way the Muslim Extremists do it??? That's bad... But, what's so wrong about inviting a friend to church, or to youth group. "Oh they don't believe in that stuff..." Well, it doesn't hurt to ask if they want to come. Maybe they're just waiting for the invite. And you know what? If people say they don't want to hear it...take the hint! Continue living a Christian life...be living examples of Christ... because ultimately...your LIFE WILL SPEAK. But, seriously don't be afraid of hurting people...sometimes Truth hurts... and that's what people need to realize...that there is TRUTH!! ONE TRUTH...ONLY ONE TRUTH!!! This crap about "whatever's good for you is good for you...and whatever's good for me is good for me..." YEAH THAT MAY WORK FOR A SOFA!! But when it comes to JESUS CHRIST??? ONE size FITS all!!!! |
